Introduction

Saasis ("we," "our," or "us") operates the website at saasis.net. This privacy policy explains how we handle your information when you browse this website.

This policy covers only this website. We do not store any personal data - IP addresses are briefly processed but never retained. If you use the Saasis bot or dashboard, please refer to the bot and dashboard privacy policy, which covers data collected when you interact with the bot service.

Privacy-First Analytics (No Consent Required)

This website uses a custom privacy-first analytics system. Unlike traditional analytics services, our approach is designed to be GDPR-compliant without requiring your consent because we do not collect or store any personal data.

Why No Cookie Banner?

Under GDPR, consent is required when processing personal data. Our analytics system avoids this entirely:

  • No IP Storage: Your IP address is truncated (last segment removed) before being used to generate an anonymous hash, then immediately discarded - the full IP is never stored or hashed
  • Daily Hash Rotation: The anonymous visitor identifier changes every day, making it impossible to track you across days
  • No Cookies: We don't use cookies or any client-side storage
  • No Fingerprinting: We don't use canvas, WebGL, or other fingerprinting techniques
  • Aggregate Data Only: We only store statistical aggregates, not individual browsing journeys

What We Collect

  • Page Views: Aggregate counts of which pages are visited (not individual sessions)
  • Device Category: Whether you're on desktop, mobile, or tablet (extracted from User-Agent, raw string not stored)
  • Browser & OS: General categories like "Chrome" or "Windows" (not versions or detailed info)
  • Country: Your country based on IP lookup (IP immediately discarded after lookup)
  • Time on Page: Approximate time spent, aggregated across all visitors
  • Referrer Domain: Which website sent you here (domain only, not full URL)

How Visitor Counting Works

To count unique visitors without storing personal data, we use a privacy-preserving technique:

  1. Your IP address is first truncated (last segment removed, e.g., 192.168.1.XXX becomes 192.168.1.0)
  2. This truncated IP and browser category are combined with a secret "salt" that changes daily
  3. This combination is hashed (one-way encrypted) into an anonymous identifier
  4. At midnight, the salt changes and old salts are deleted, making yesterday's hashes impossible to correlate with today's

This approach is similar to privacy-focused analytics services like Plausible and Fathom.

Country Lookup

To determine your country for aggregate statistics, your IP address is sent to a geolocation service for a one-time lookup. The IP is not stored by us, and we only retain the two-letter country code. Traffic is distributed across multiple providers so no single service sees all our visitors.

No Third-Party Tracking

  • Analytics data is stored on our own servers, not sent to Google or other advertising platforms
  • No data is shared with third parties for advertising or profiling purposes
  • No cross-site tracking or advertising identifiers

Data Processing & Your Rights

Your IP address is briefly processed (truncated and hashed) to generate anonymous visitor counts, and sent to a geolocation service to determine your country. However, no personal data is stored - the IP is discarded immediately after processing, and only anonymous aggregates are retained. We process this data under our legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) in understanding website usage while minimizing data to non-personal form as quickly as possible.

Since no personal data is retained, GDPR data subject rights (access, rectification, erasure, etc.) cannot be exercised against data that does not exist. If you have questions about our processing, contact us at [email protected].

If you use the Saasis bot or dashboard, your full GDPR rights for that data are described in the bot and dashboard privacy policy.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy to reflect changes in our practices. The updated policy will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date.
